Session 1

Methodology of the semester

In this class, we will discuss 3 main disciplines (psychology, sociology and economics), the first part of the class is to give you an array of examples and excite your minds. The second will be helping you come up with a project that interests you and prepare an argumentative essay.

WeLet's begin with the Consumerism Culture (Case 1) and the Green Culture (Case2), these two topics will firstalign taketogether via a European - American Event happening January 25th to February 8th, 2025. 

You will be in charge of observing and analyzing the process of this event and provide an argumentative report on consumerism and green cultures.

Challenge Deliverables; 

Case 1 Challenge 

  1. Let's begin with a discussion on Consumerism 
  2. Read through Bopaq's current situation 
  3. Write our a case memo based on case 1 (Include 1 scientific and 2 new sources) 

What is a Case Memo? 
Every time we look at a case, write down a short paragraph on your thoughts about the case. 

  • Your first thoughts 
  • Your researched and scientific thoughts (take 5-10 minutes to do some research) summarize your findings. 

Discussions in class 

Our discussions will take many forms, Case 1 will be an open forum, we will switch team and have you debate on the subject. By the end of the session, your team will draft a final report on the various perspectives you can have on the topic of Consumerismconsumerism. from 3 different stand points. 

Deliverables for Case 1 - What should your report look like? 

  • 1 page - Analysis of the situation - macro (global impact) , industry (all companies) , micro (Bopaq)
  • 1 page - Suggest a solution - long term - short term 
  • 1 page - Final conclusion - what is now your final take on Consumerism? Should Bopaq be thriving? or should they close because global waste is hopeless.
