PART VII: Communication and Speaking

A strong deck does not present itself. Once the slides are built, the team must bring the argument to life. Your voice, eye contact, pace, pauses, emphasis, and transitions all influence whether the judges understand and believe the recommendation. The objective is not to sound rehearsed. It is to sound like you understand the business, own the recommendation, and are having a professional conversation with the decision-makers in the room.

Part VII focuses on four disciplines:

  1. Interpret the Slide rather than read it.

  2. Speak to the judges, not the screen.

  3. Use your voice deliberately.

  4. Guide the audience through the argument.

The Slide provides the evidence. The Speaker provides the meaning.
