Future Considerations
Another important component of your solution is discussing future considerations, which may also be referred to as the "out of the box" aspects of the solution. How you present these future considerations is crucial, as they can lead to confusion. So, what exactly are future considerations? They are points related to the solution that extend beyond the scope of the presentation itself. It’s important to recognise that they are not part of the actual solution.
Often, these considerations are presented toward the end of the presentation, which can introduce new information for the judges. This is where caution is necessary; introducing new information can confuse the judges and negatively affect your score. Therefore, it's essential to clarify the details of the solution to ensure that judges do not mistake these future considerations for elements of the solution itself.
Future considerations are high-level suggestions for future consultation after the solution has been implemented and is proving to be successful. It’s also common for judges to confuse this new information with the existing solution due to the recency effect. To mitigate this, you can use a "not now" framework—indicating that certain actions are meant for the future, such as “not now, do this, then do that.”
Additionally, you can reinforce this clarification by including a key solution slide or an executive summary on the final slide of your presentation. This will help reiterate the distinctions during the Q&A segment.
